Notice and Takedown

Last updated: to be confirmed before launch

1. What this page is for

If you believe material you hold rights in is being made available through Hopp, this page tells you how to tell us, what your notice needs to contain, and what we will do about it.

Please read section 2 first. It is not a refusal — it is what usually decides where a notice should go, and sending it to the right place is faster than sending it to us.

2. What Hopp is, and what that means for a notice

Hopp is a media player. It plays a playlist file or a provider account that the user supplies themselves. It ships with no content, no directory of sources, and no way to search or discover them: there is no server-side list for the app to consult, because no such list exists.

We also cannot see what any user plays. Playlists, credentials, favourites and settings are encrypted on the device before anything reaches our servers, with a key we never receive. What we store is an opaque blob we cannot read.

Two things follow, and they are the whole of what we can and cannot do:

If your notice is about material on a streaming service, it belongs with that service or its host. If it is about a Hopp account, or about the app itself, it belongs here.

3. How to send a notice

Send it to our designated agent:

to be confirmed before launch Hopp Apps [email protected]

Email is enough; nothing has to be posted.

4. What a notice must contain

So that we can act on it without writing back for the basics:

  1. Who you are — your name, the rights holder you act for if that is someone else, and an address and email we can reply to.
  2. What the material is — enough to identify it: the title, and where you say it is being made available.
  3. What right you hold in it, and on what basis you are entitled to complain.
  4. What you are asking us to do, given section 2.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you believe in good faith that the use you describe is not authorised by the rights holder or by law.

A notice that names a Hopp account should say how it was identified. We cannot search for an account by the content it plays — we cannot read what it plays.

5. What happens, and when

We will tell you the outcome in either case.

6. Counter-notice

If we acted on your account and you believe we were wrong, write to the same address with your account's email, what was actioned, and why you say the use was authorised. We will review it and reply.

7. Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly breach the content terms of our Terms of Service are terminated.

8. Misuse

A notice sent to silence lawful use, or one that misstates who holds a right, wastes the time of people who handle real ones and may carry consequences for the sender under the law of the Netherlands.
